Artificial intelligence is creating new opportunities for online learning, research, and educational content development. However, its adoption also raises concerns about privacy, academic integrity, and the reliability of AI-generated information.
UNESCO’s guidance on generative AI in education and research calls for a human-centered approach that prioritizes safety, equity, data protection, and meaningful educational outcomes.
For online institutions, this means developing clear policies on acceptable AI use, protecting student information, and ensuring that technology supports rather than replaces effective teaching and assessment.
As AI tools become more accessible, educational institutions need practical policies that encourage responsible innovation while protecting learners and maintaining academic standards.

AI can make learning easier, but schools need to be careful about how they use it, especially when it comes to students’ personal data and academic work. I think teaching students how to use AI responsibly is more useful than simply banning it. Technology should help people learn, not do all the thinking for them.
