Whenever I hear people debate the value of online degrees, I realise that the answer is not as simple as saying yes or no. Some people believe traditional classroom education carries more weight, while others argue that online qualifications can be just as valuable.

Contributors shared experiences of earning online degrees, finding opportunities for career advancement, and balancing education with full-time employment.
One point that stood out to me was the importance of the university itself. An online degree from a recognised institution is not automatically less valuable than one earned on campus.
However, students need to check the institution’s accreditation, recognition and academic standards before enrolling.
I also agree that the field of study matters. Business and technology programmes may be well suited to online learning, while medicine and other practical disciplines can require laboratory work, supervised training or face-to-face experience.
Another interesting argument concerned networking. Online learning offers flexibility, especially for working adults, but traditional campuses may provide more opportunities to build professional relationships.
For someone changing careers, those connections can be just as important as the qualification.
Personally, I believe online degrees are worth considering, provided students choose carefully. The real question is not simply whether a degree was earned online, but whether it provides credible education, relevant skills and opportunities for future growth.
Before enrolling, I would research the institution, verify its recognition and consider whether employers in my chosen field accept the qualification.
